Saki Hayashi (Japan)
Where are you from and where do you live now?
I currently live in Niseko on the northern island of Japan, Hokkaido. I am Japanese by nationality and I grew up in Tuntable Falls on the far north coast of NSW Australia.
Your favorite mountains?
My favorite mountains at the moment would have to be around the Daisetsuzan range.
Your home ski area?
My local spot on a sunny powder day would be somewhere up Mt Yotei.
What was your first experience with skis?
The first time I tried skiing was when I was 9. During my summer holidays down under, my family and I visited Japan and we went to Mt Naeba on the border between Nagano and Niigata prefectures. I knew right away that I would be back on skis as soon as I could but we then lived a long way from the snowy mountains in Tuntable Falls, Australia.
What are your favorite sports/hobby/activities?
Skiing, snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding. I also co created Niseko Zen - an outdoor company that specializes in backcountry guiding in the winter and water sports during the summer.
Why Majesty?
I found a discounted pair of 175cm Lumberjacks in a shop in Ogawamachi Tokyo and they looked like the perfect ski for popping, slashing and buttering around Niseko. I mounted them up and they have been a blast! I have been trying out different shapes by Majesty ever since.
How long have you been with Majesty?
I believe I got my first pair of Lumberjacks before the winter of 2015-2016.
Any cool accomplishments with Majesty so far?
On my Majesty quiver I’ve pushed myself to ski bigger lines, pillows, jumps and some freestyle.
What are your future plans with Majesty?
I want to have fun.
