      Austin Becker (USA)

Where are you from and where do you live now?

I am from a small ski town in Southern California, called Lake Arrowhead, about a 30-minute drive from Big Bear Mountain Resorts.

      Your favorite mountains?

My favorite mountains are Alta, Alyeska, and Brighton

      Your home ski area?

      Mary Jane, Winter Park, Colorado

What was your first experience with skis?

My first experience with skiing was at 2 years old in Mammoth Lakes, CA. My uncle was a long-time skier and lover of the sport and got me into skiing at a very young age.

      What are your favorite sports/hobby/activities?

Well, skiing of course, but that is inevitable. I spend my summers playing a ton of tennis, rock climbing, cycling, and anything related to water sports. Growing up on a lake I was lucky enough to wake surf and wakeboard basically every day and I still try to do that as often as possible here in Colorado.

      Why Majesty?

When it came time to sign with a new ski sponsor, I knew I wanted to get in on the ground floor with a newer brand. Signing with Majesty was the best of both worlds. Majesty is a very established and long-standing brand in the EU and was just starting to make its mark in the US market. This allowed me to have a more personal relationship with the brand and help them grow!

How long have you been with Majesty?

2023/24 was my first season with Majesty and don’t have a single regret. The skis are incredible, the people are amazing, and they’re a brand that truly cares to build a quality product that they stand behind.

Any cool accomplishments with Majesty so far?

This has been a huge season for me, and been traveling the world skiing places I only dreamed of skiing when I was a kid. I got to ski the biggest lines and spines I’ve ever skied in AK for two weeks and I couldn’t think of a better ski to have under my feet them Majesty.

What are your future plans with Majesty?

Majesty will be my home for seasons to come and hope to only continue helping them grow and show others how incredible the skis, brand, and people behind the brand are. We are currently working on a two-year project and film pushing the narrative of making change to the heavily ignored topic of mental health and substance use within the ski industry and I am fortunate to have a brand like Majesty providing me with the best skis and support possible!

Where are you from and where do you live now?

I grew up in Payette, Idaho skiing such areas as Anthony Lakes, Bogus Basin and my favorite as a kid - Brundage Mountain, before moving to Jackson Hole in 2006.

My favorite mountains for winter play are definitely the Tetons but then switches to the Winds River Range in the summer.

      Your home ski area?

I now consider my home to be Jackson Hole where I have lived and skied now for going on 18 years.

What was your first experience with skis?

My first time was on a school trip when I was about 11 years old and I knew immediately that skiing was for me.

      What are your favorite sports/hobby/activities?

I consider myself to be a lover of all things outdoors but can really pin such things as skiing, rafting, mtn biking, hiking, climbing to be among my favorites.

      Why Majesty?

I really knew very little about Majesty before being approached through a friend of a friend. I immediately liked the design and all they had going on. They gave me a pair of Vanguards to try out and after a few days on it, I was sold.

How long have you been with Majesty?

2023/24 is my second full season with Majesty.

Any cool accomplishments with Majesty so far?

Having only been on for not too long yet mainly just having been able to get some film and pics skiing them around the JH backcountry.

What are your future plans with Majesty?

Really to spread the stoke and help them get a foothold here in JH as their line has options for everything, weather it’s jibbing thru the terrain park, crushing tram laps or climbing 7000+ vertical foot accents up the Grand Teton - they can do it all.

Where are you from and where do you live now?

I'm originally from Montana, USA. I’ve recently moved to Np̓əšqʷáw̓səxʷ Country in the Eastern Cascades mountains in Washington, USA.

      Your favorite mountains?

The North Cascades, Columbia-Purcells, Karakoram & Hundu Kush -- in no particular order.

      Your home ski area?

Bridger Bowl Montana for life , it’s where I learned to ski.

What was your first experience with skis?

My parents had me on skis at 18 months so I cannot remember some of those very clearly. However, my mom just told me a funny story of me skiing when I was maybe 3 years old in Montana. There was a 20-foot-tall mound of cow manure and dirt in the working lands next to our house. So when we would get enough snow to ski I would suit up, then ascend (by sidestepping) and ski down it, in that fashion repeatedly. So basically, just like the ski mountaineering on variable bad snow we do today, haha!

      What are your favorite sports/hobby/activities?

I love skiing mountains, but I also really love visual storytelling and policy. I've made more than 40 documentary films, and am active working with mountain people and governments around the world. I really love watercolor painting too and often trail run and travel with a little set. Music is always a part of my day and I love hearing new music from artists around the world – just got turned onto Amapiano from South Africa, it's so good!

      Why Majesty?

The term “majesty” means sovereignty, dignity, and grandeur -- and that's what mountains represent to me. Mountains are often sovereign homelands of First Nations which requires our reciprocity and upmost respect. The beauty of mountains moves humans to higher ideals, deep peace and the power of perspective gained up high. Majesty Skis makes some of the best ski touring skis on the planet while maintaining environmental respect and reciprocity via the “skis for trees” initiative, where they plant a tree for every pair of skis sold. Majesty partners with the best makers of tech touring bindings and skins in the world as well. So, for me you add all that up and it’s a no brainer to partner with Majesty.

How long have you been with Majesty?

      Spring 2023 - just a baby!

Any cool accomplishments with Majesty so far?

2023 Pierra Menta Ski Mountaineering 2023 in France, I scouted the course and completed training for this premier ski mountaineering event with Majesty skis afoot. But, things are just getting started.

What are your future plans with Majesty?

In short building a positive and inclusive ski culture, especially uphill and the best ski equipment. I want to see as many people, from all backgrounds, feeling the joy of the sport on Majesty skis. This means an inclusive, and safe ski culture where folks from all backgrounds feel welcome and safe socially, while we all rally to keep each other safe skiing mountains. There are some really talented freeride and ski mountaineers on the Majesty Skis so I'd like to support them, while supporting more BIPOC and Femme kin as we build the loving and inclusive change society and the outdoor industry needs. So all in all, I’d like to weave Majesty Skis into community ski events, some storytelling and help with R&D to develop the best ski touring equipment on the planet.

2022/23 is my first season with Majesty and hopefully the first of many.

Any cool accomplishments with Majesty so far?

Does taking the biggest slam / tomahawk off a rock jump I've managed in about 4yrs count? It hurt enough that it should...Haha

What are your future plans with Majesty?

I'd like to help put Havoc Ti and Vadera in lots of freeride podium pictures and help to grow Majesty's profile with IFSA youth and FWQ athletes, as the skis are superb for big-mountain competition.
