Joe Stevens (USA)
Where did you grow up and where's your home base now?
I'm from a small village just outside London, England. These days I'm stoked to call California and Utah my homes, after a Freeride coaching journey that took me through Europe, New Zealand, Canada, and a decade in Jackson Hole.
Your favorite mountains?
Palisades Tahoe, Revelstoke, Tignes, Whitewater, Snowbird, Kicking Horse, Jackson... Anywhere steep and powdery!
Your home ski area?
Snowbasin, Utah. Amazing Freeride terrain, and a squad of locals who properly live life elevated. True believers, real skiers around here. Don’t sleep on this place.
What was your first experience with skis?
Sliding ten yards on a bristly artificial slope at Mt Bracknell (RIP) in England aged 14. I fell in love with the sport immediately.
What are your favorite sports/hobby/activities?
Following the England national football team and my hometown side Wycombe Wanderers FC, studying leadership and sociology, and listening to all kinds of loud and aggressive music - preferably live.
Why Majesty?
Cos I enjoyed the Havoc 110ti and Vandals so much when I tested them that I didn't want to take them off! These days my everyday ski is the Havoc 100ti, and I think that might be the best of the bunch. It’s so playful and fun, but it really comes to life when you hit the gas and charge hard.
How long have you been with Majesty?
I’ve been stoked to work with Majesty since 2022.
Any cool accomplishments with Majesty so far?
I’ve clipped into my Havocs on three continents and coached alongside multiple FWT champions. For a kid from England who started out on plastic slopes, I’ll take that. My athletes are the real achievers though, and they’ve picked up national titles and podiumed for USA at the Freeride Junior World Championships during that time. All credit to them.
What are your future plans with Majesty?
I’d like to help expand awareness of the skis in big-mountain freeride competition, and see more Majesty athletes grow in the sport and stand on FWQ and FWT podiums. We need to give the legend Zuza some teammates on the tour!
