A Letter From Antarctica

A Letter From Antarctica

When I first realized that 90% of King George Island was covered with glaciers, ski touring was the first thing that came to my mind.

I came here for the first time back in 2011 and after 6 months that I spent on the glacier, I knew that every line needed perfect preparation, especially in such remote places like Antarctica.

This time, I will be here for 12 months.

I have my new research duties, new plans, and new lines I want to ski. What am I waiting for then? I'm waiting for the perfect window i.e. favorable tides, free time, climb exploration and decent snow condition. All of those variables need to align to create the perfect moment to ski. Here in Antarctica there is no room for mistakes or lost opportunities.

This is the proverbial edge of the world.

During the year that Adam spent in Antarctica he chose Werewolf CLT The all-terrain skis that provide lightweight performance and versatility.

The carbon construction and light paulownia core deliver both easier, lighter ascents and incredible rigidity that delivers precise grip even in the most gnarly situations. Having the right and reliable skimo tool for the job at hand is essential, especially in a desolate place where you don't know what adventures may lie ahead.
