Superlight, nimble stubby that literally skis everything.
The 2019 Supernova SL is hands down one of the most exciting ultralight carbon skis in the lineup. Recognized by several industry tests including the Backcountry Magazine's 2019 Gear Guide in the US, these light weight, carbon fiber freetouring skis hit all the marks as stand out performers from shrilling hard pack, to floating through powder. With their remarkable edge grip, Supernova SL skis extremely well in all terrain conditions.
Backcountry Magazine tester quotes:
- "[the Supernova's] super fun, playful tips are floaty in powder, and stiff tails are perfect at speed.
- “Planets align when you ski these skis through powder.”
The new Supernova SL was built with much lighter paulownia wood core that shaved off 250 grams per ski when comparing to the 2018 Supernova Carbon. This leaner weight complements the already impressive list of features including the full carbon fiber layup, carbon-aramid fibers, flat tail with skin heels, early taper rocker tips, semi-cap construction and the very functional 101-105 mm waist width. All of this allowed us to build ultra-lightweight skis that support dynamic responsiveness and unmatched skiing stability even in the sketchiest weather and terrain conditions. By reducing the tail length and shifting the skier slightly towards the back, we have created quicker turning and more versatile touring skis. The notable length and weight reduction was achieved without compromising any functionality. In fact Supernova’s usability has been increased due to their longer contact edges that allow you to ski shorter skis than what has been previously considered functional.
When it comes to real adventure skis, whether you are planning a trip to Røldal, Chamonix, BC, volcano touring in The Cascades or exploring glaciers of Alaska, you really need just one freetouring tool in your quiver and we think that Supernova SL is it! You can experience the future of high performance freetouring with one pair of skis to replace a garage full of overly specialized confusion.
When you buy your new Supernova SL freetouring skis, you are buying the latest design skis that are both ultra light weight and extremely functional in all terrain and snow conditions. With their stubby surf-board inspired design, you will find them effortless to maneuver. If you are shopping for precise, technical, responsive, touring skis, the Supernova SL were handmade just for you.
