Big mountain performance designed for diverse backcountry terrain and variable snow. The Vanguard was developed for skiers who love playful skiing in the backcountry. This is our latest generation of backcountry powder skis in the beefy 118mm underfoot category. The Vanguard is a strong and yet playful directional freeride twin tip that features a progressive mount point and semi-symmetrical twin tip shape. Designed for wide and open terrain as well as tight backcountry tree runs. It is loaded with versatility, agility and performance. The Vanguard is relatively lightweight for its size due to our use of paulownia wood in the core and light carbon fiber laminates. Thanks to our latest 4x4 Design Concept: 4Radius sidecut + 4Radius rockers in the tip and tails, the Vanguard delivers incredible maneuverability. The unique combination of triax fiberglass, carbon/kevlar fibers and durable light wood core embraces high performance and optimizes the 3D flex. Rather than be overly stiff, the Vanguard gives you flex when landing big drops; spring when transitioning in turns; control when skiing across chewed-up crud and it delivers immediate response to your every input.
4x4 Design Concept
The 4Radius sidecut means that there are 4 radii in the sidecut of the skis. Four is better than one, right? Exactly! This gives you more confidence in turns as you can engage the edge more effectively and hold the edge longer. It enhances your ability to make short, sharp turns as well as long big mountain turns and you can release the edge immediately when needed. With the 4Radius sidecut your control of the skis and overall stability of the ride have been greatly improved, giving you more confidence at any speed and terrain.
The 4Radius rocker tips and tails means that there are 4 radii in the rocker profile. It reduces drag, maximizes top speed and enhances control.
