Matt Appleford (USA)

Where are you from and where do you live now?
I grew up in Scotland and I live in Granby, Colorado.
Your favorite mountains?
I have a few! My favorite resort in Colorado is Telluride and now I have a soft spot for Granby Ranch as I live here. Internationally, I love traveling to Japan for the quality and abundance of the snow, Gulmarg in Kashmir for the amazing lift-accessible terrain, Georgia is amazing and I love going to my favorite resort in Chile in the summertime because it's great to beat the heat and the skiing and food are amazing.
Your home ski area?
Granby Ranch CO where I worked as the Ski School Training Supervisor.
What was your first experience with skis?
My very first time was when I was 8 or 9 on a plastic dry slope at the Loch Rannoch holiday resort in the Scottish Highlands. I loved it so much that we started skiing on snow the next year and we would go every winter to Aviemore and the Cairngorm mountains and sometimes the Lecht and Aonoch Mor ski areas.
What are your favorite sports/hobby/activities?
I love to mountain bike, fly fish (Japanese Tenkara-style), hike, cross-country ski, snowshoe.
Why Majesty?
I've been an ambassador for many brands over the 20 years I've been involved with the industry. I was attracted to Majesty because they had a reputation for making high-quality freeride skis. Their designs are driven by rider input and are performance orientated. I was excited to ski for a brand that is new to the U.S. market so I could have more impact in helping market the brand.
How long have you been with Majesty?
Since 2019
Any cool accomplishments with Majesty so far?
Most of my exposure of the brand is to my clients for The Adventure Project during our trips and at the resort I am working for.
What are your future plans with Majesty?
I'd like help grow the brand here in the U.S. I am planning to re-start my business now that covid restrictions are easing and I want to start to run our trips around the world again as soon as possible...
